Lucknow’s Urdu University to begin classes from 2011

Lucknow: State’s Higher Education Minister Rakesh Dhar Tripathi said on Wednesday that the teaching at University of Urdu Arbi and Farsi will begin from July 2011. He said that apart from the three languages the universirty will also impart teaching in other relevant contemporary subjects. The Minister was speaking on the occasion of plantation drive function on the university premises at Hardoi-Sitapur Byepass.

“The state government had set up a university in the state some 27 years ago. This is the first university that has been built after that,” added the Tripathi.

The Minster said that the although the government has provided Rupees 20 crores for the university but the Chief Minister had increased it upto Rupees 170 crores. He added that the funds have been increased so that the construction process gets completed within this year.

Showering praises on Chief Minster Mayawati, Urban Development Minister Nakul Dubey said that there was a time when the area had not even a single degre college while at present it has four degree colleges besides the construction of a uique university.

State minsiter for Minority Welfare, Anis Ahmad Khan said that with the setting up of the university the dreams of minorities would be cherished. He also said that the university would set examples for other states to follow. Among other dignataries present on the occasion were Secretary Higher Education, Anil Sant and vice chancellor of the university Anis Ansari.
