Kollam: Prohibitory orders have been clamped around the Anvarsseri campus where PDP chairman Abdunnasir Maudany resides, in a move suggestive of an imminent arrest. A large police force is camping in the area. Higher police officers in the state have reached Kollam. Meanwhile, in a move contrary to his earlier announcement, Maudany approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail. He also expressed his readiness to court arrest to the religious leaders who visited him.
Prohibitory orders were declared in Kunnathur Taluka which covers the Anvarsseri campus by Kollam district Collector A Shajahan. The orders would b ein force till Friday and were clamped reportedly as situations were not convenient to carry out the arrest warrant issued against maudany by the Bengaluru Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. Grouping of more than five persons has been prohibited in Shasthamkotta and Mainagappalli, the places around the campus. The entry of outsiders too has been banned in the villages. A police force led by Kollam SP Harshida Attalloori is camping at and around the Anvarsseri campus, which was said to be a precautionary measure as the Yuva Morcha was supposed to organise a march to the campus. However, the police have not left even after the Yuva Morcha announced it was not organising any march. The police burst tear gas shells and smoke grenades to disperse the PDP activists flocked in the area. The activists are raising slogans in the campus, doubting an imminent arrest of the leader.
Meanwhile, Maudany has reportedly approached the Supreme Court with an anticipatory bail plea and also questioned the chargesheet against him in the Bengaluru blast case. He had earlier told media persons that he would not move the apex court. The sudden change in decision was announced by PDP wprking chairman Poonthura Siraj. Maudany has also filed a complaint with the Karnataka High Court demanding the cancellation of the chargesheet against him in the Bengaluru blast case. However, Maudany reiterated his readiness to court arrest when KMYF state president KF Muhammed Aslam Moulvi and Dakshin Kerala Jamiyathul Ulem Ernakulam district secretary KP Abdussalam Moulvi visited him. PDP working chairman Poonthur Siraj also said that Maudany was ready for arrest.
The police have put sanctions on Anvarsseri, accused PDP leader chairman Poonthura Siraj. He said that water and electricity connections to the complex were cut off. He added that Maudany was ready for a legal arrest and was not one to be smoked out of the place. At present there are reportedly hundreds of PDP activists and supporters of Maudany inside the campus including women and children.
The new developments are happening when the deadline for arresting Maudany as per the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him ends on Monday.
