New Delhi: On the occasion of 64th Independence Day, scholars of Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit languages were conferred Certificate of Honour by the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
While 15 scholars were honored from Sanskrit language, the scholars honored for Arabic and Persian languages were just 3 and 2 respectively.
Prof. Mohd. Abdul Majeed, Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri and Prof. Ashfaq Ahmad Nadvi received the honor from the President for their contribution to Arabic language. Scholars honored from Persian language were Dr. S. M. Talha Rizvi “Burque” and Dr. Muhammad Yousuf.
The distinction is conferred once a year on the Independence Day in recognition of substantial contribution in the field of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit.
