Raipur : Vidya Charan Shukla, former union minister who rejoined the Congress for the fourth time last month, said Saturday that he would work for the party’s unity and to take it to power in Chhattisgarh.
Talking to reporters here for the first time since rejoining the party, the veteran leader said: “I will work for Congress unity and will soon conduct a state-wide tour with other party leaders to create an atmosphere in favour of the Congress to win the assembly polls next year.”
He, however, admitted his bitter relationship with former chief minister Ajit Jogi, saying “I left the Congress in 2003 only because of Jogi.
“My top priority will be to unite the party in the state but my battle against vested interests in the Congress will continue,” Shukla said.
