New Delhi: The Zakat Foundation of India (ZFI) is helping the needy people during this Ramazan in various states — from Kashmir to Kerala. On one hand, the Delhi-based NGO has distributed Sahri and Iftar kits among hundreds of people, it is extending help to flood affected people in Bihar on the other.
ZFI’s ration distribution for widows in Samastipur, Bihar
All over India, ZFI has distributed ration packets for Sahri and Iftar among poor widows and other needy women and men during the current month of Ramazan. The states covered include Kashmir, UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan, Delhi, Tamilnadu and Kerala.
In the district of Supaul in Bihar Parashi village in Nawab Baqar panchayat under Kishanpura block and Baniya panchayat in the same block were submerged by the Kosi River. More than 400 houses were affected and nearly 10,000 people were forced to live on the embankment during this Ramazan. ZFI is helping the villagers to keep their heads above water. The group has also distributed lungi, sarees, chadars, siwaiyan and khajur among the affected people.
Moreover, in Kashmir, ZFI has adopted Dardpura village with large scale widow and male-less families. For this work ZFI’s newly coopted member Dr Shah Faesal, IAS topper, and his team are actively involved.
ZFI President Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood has appealed to the people to help his group for the noble cause.
