New Delhi : President Pratiba Patil Sunday condoled the death of former Maharashtra chief minister Babasaheb Bhosale, saying that he was a personality admired by all.
Remembering her close association with Bhosale, who died Sunday in Mumbai aged 86, Patil said: “I had a close association with Babasaheb Bhosale, especially during the time when I was a member of his cabinet when he was the chief minister of Maharashtra.”
“A committed nationalist, he took active part in the freedom struggle right from his student days. His personality was such that he was admired by all,” the president said in her condolence message to the former chief minister’s son Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale.
Bhosale was chief minister of Maharashtra from Jan 21, 1982, to Feb 1, 1983. He was believed to be a close associate of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
