Aligarh: The management of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has announced results of All India Essay Writing Competition-2010 on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on the eve of his birth anniversary which falls on October 17.
According to result, this year Mr. Mehmood Alam Siddiqui, research scholar, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi has bagged the first position. While Ms. Asma Shahid, a post graduate student of Rampur Raza Degree College, Rampur has second position, Ms. Farheen M. Junedi of SECAB P.U. College for Women, Bijapur (Karnataka) has secured third position.
This national level essay writing competition on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’ s life and contribution was conceived by the present AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis in 2007 to promote Sir Syed’s vision and mission in length and breadth of the country. Since then it is being conducted every year.
The competition has Rs. 25000/ for the first position, Rs. 15000/ and Rs. 10000/ for second and third positions respectively.
The prizes and mementos will be given away to the winners at Sir Syed Day Commemoration function to be held on October 17, 2010 at 10: am at Kennedy Auditorium, AMU in Aligarh.
Besides, one topper from every state is also selected and is given cash prize of Rs. 5000/ for their best essays at state level. The winners of this prize are;
