New Delhi: Three ex-students of Jamia Millia Islamia will be playing in the hockey final today at Commonwealth Games here in Delhi. They will be playing in the India Team which will be taking on world champion Australia. India defeated England in the semifinal.
“It is a matter of great pride and pleasure for Jamia Millia Islamia that 3 of its former students will be playing in the CWG Hockey finals tomorrow, to be played between India and Australia. It is a rare honour for any institution to have even one player play at such a competitive level and to have three players playing at such a level is indeed a matter of great pleasure and pride for the entire Jamia community,” said Simi Malhotra, Media Coordinator, Jamia Millia Islamia.
These three players are: Bharat Chikara who graduated from Jamia Millia Islamia and plays as a mid fielder, Danish Mujtaba, who plays as a mid fielder too and Tushar Khandekar who plays in the forward position.
“The University is extremely proud of these three alumni and wishes all three of them all the success in their match tomorrow as also in their careers,” Malhotra said.
