UAE to begin livestock vaccination programme

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates is starting a country-wide campaign to vaccinate livestock against several endemic diseases.

The campaign, stretching from October 2010 to April 2011, will see provision of vaccines against aphthous fever, enterotoxaemia, sheep and goat pox and the contagious pleuropneumonia, the ministry of environment and water said.

The ministry had already immunized over 507,000 heads of cattle.
