Kuala Lumpur : India and Malaysia Wednesday said a comprehensive reform of the UN was needed to address today’s global challenges.
A joint statement on India-Malaysia Strategic Partnership released during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit that began here Tuesday said: “A comprehensive reform of the United Nations remains a priority in order for the organisation to effectively address today’s global challenges.”
Manmohan Singh and his Malaysian counterpart Najib Tun Razak also agreed to work “towards achieving a more representative, more efficient and more effective UN Security Council, especially its expansion in both permanent and non-permanent categories”.
