Blame game undermining sanctity of Shia Waqf Board

By TCN Special Correspondent,

Lucknow: Blame game between two groups has undermined the sanctity of Shia Central Board of Waqfs (SCBW) which is the custodian of masjids and imambaras of Shia Muslims in the state.

On Sunday, Shia outfits Hussaini Tigers and All India Azadari Board came out in support of present chairman of SCBW, Prof Kaleemuddin Akbar. In a press conference, President, Hussaini Tigers, Shameel Shamsi claimed that Akbar is an honest person and two members namely Kunwar Iqbal Haider and Imran Rizvi have started a vindictive campaign against the chairman.

“Both these members are neck deep in corruption, there is an inquiry going on against them. It is a pressure tactic to blackmail the chairman,” said Shamsi. He also demanded that state government should step in and both these members should be sacked from membership of the board. He also threatened staging protest in Hazratganj to stress for the demand. “Haider has misused waqf property in Sikanderbagh while Imran’s role is under scanner for disposing off waqf property in Barabanki,” claimed Shamsi.

Shamsi along with Meesam Rizvi of All India Azadari Board urged all the Shia Muslims to unite and extend support to the present chairman of SCBW.

Surprisingly, they also appealed to Anjuman Hai Matami, an orgnaisation headed by Maulana Yasoob Abbas to unite in this crisis moment for the larger interest of the community. Abbas, is a known adversary of the chairman, SCBW and has extended support to the latter’s detractors.
