Some 61.3 percent of Germans would like to pack up their things and leave the country for good.

Only 26.7 percent said they still like to live in Germany, while two percent had either no opinion on the issue or were indifferent on it.

German emigration reached a peak in 2008 as 175,000 people left their native country.

Top destinations for German emigrants were Switzerland, the US, Poland, Austria, the United Kingdom and Spain.

Bleak job prospects and fears of poverty in old age were the main reasons for the latest German emigration wave.
