New Delhi, (IANS) Known for his professionalism and eye for detail, newly appointed Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi Monday visited the party headquarters to inspect the condition of the offices and see first-hand how it functions.
Rahul, who is general secretary in charge of the youth wing of the ruling party, reached the office around 1.40 p.m. and spent almost two hours going through the offices of the Mahila Congress and the Seva Dal.
He also supervised the construction work going on in the AICC complex, which is being readied for the new general secretary.
As he came out of the Mahila Congress office, he was seen pointing towards some dirt on the wall – apparently some betel stains – and instructing party workers.
The Amethi MP also visited the media room where he asked the staff whether they had only three computers to work with.
When he entered in the office where media secretary Tom Vadakkan sits, he inquired why there were only a few chairs. He was then shown the bigger media room where the party spokesperson interacts with journalists informally.
Although the Special Protection Group personnel and his personal aides were discouraging him to do so, Rahul spoke to journalists on the condition that there would be no TV cameras there.
“I just came to see the office to get an idea about it. It is alright,” he told reporters while leaving for 10 Janpath, his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s official residence.
