New Delhi : Vice President Hamid Ansari Monday said that the visit of US President Barack Obama to India will bring the people of the two nations closer.
Welcoming Obama to the Central Hall of parliament for his address to the members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, Ansari said India’s constitution had been inspired by the values of liberty, constitutionalism, law, political and cultural equality.
“We have accommodated diversity, eschewed conflict and promoted peace,” he said.
Ansari, who is chairman of the Rajya Sabha, said that the US and India have to do much together.
“We are confident the visit will bring our two peoples closer,” he said.
