Kalbe Jawwad demands removal of officials who misled CM

By TCN Special Correspondent,

Lucknow: Shia cleric and Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad on Monday charged the district administrative officials for misleading the Chief Minister. Jawwad, whose arrest on Sunday had sparked violence in old city areas claimed that administration was informed beforehand that the matter was related to their religious sentiments. “The Chief Minister should take the matter seriously and remove the officials who have a RSS-BJP mindset,” he said.

Jawwad along with Maulana Ali Nasir Saeed Abaqati aka Agha Roohi, Maulana Kazim Zaheer were arrested by local administration after they allegedly tried to stall the annual board meeting of Shia PG College on Sunday. Jawwad had claimed that as the day coincided with the day of mourning for shahadat of fifth Imam Abu Baqar, the meeting should not be held. This led to violent protest and his arrest.

“I and Maulana Agha Roohi are member of Ulema Council for Shia College and it is laid down clearly that there will be no meeting on martyr’s day, haj and ehteram-a-ramzanul mubarak. Due to it when one such meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on January 3, 2008, the president of Managing Committee, Maulana Kazim Zaheer had expelled the secretary Akhtar Hussain Rizvi and joint secretary Sajjad Hussain Moosvi. Since then the two are at loggerheads,” claimed Maulana Jawwad.

Administration acted in a partisan manner and we were denied admission inside the college. The police acted one-sided and took action on our supporters. “The ADM OP Pathak and SP (West) BP Ashok instigated for burning my and Maulana Agha Roohi’s effigy. My supporters including women and children were on a peaceful dharna on road. Police even attacked my home and slammed the door with lathi blows,” he added.

Regretting that the incident was pre-planned by Maulana Mirza Mohd Athar, who heads the All India Shia Personal Law Board, and his son Maulana Yasoob Abbas, both are attached to BJP, Maulana Jawwad alleged the administrative officials also favoured them.
