Hyderabad : India recovered from a set down to go past Brazil 3-1 and advanced to the super league of the men’s volleyball competition at the Yousufguda Indoor Stadium here Wednesday.
Cheered on by a partisan crowd, mostly from the army units stationed in and around the twin city, India won 23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-17 to finish second in Group B behind China.
South Korea and Qatar have made the grade from Group A.
In Wednesday’s action, the South Koreans had an easy time against Canada, winning 25-17, 25-20, 25-18, while Qatar had to work harder for 25-22, 27-25, 25-16 win over the Netherlands.
In the super league, all four teams play each with the medals being decided on the league standings. India’s first opponents in the super league are South Korea on Thursday, followed by the Chinese Friday and Qatar Saturday.
