Cairo : Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa has said that he will call an Arab foreign ministers’ meeting for more coordination on a US-brokered international conference on Mideast peace, Egypt’s official MENA news agency reported.
Moussa made the announcement Wednesday at a press conference following a meeting of the AL council at the level of chief delegates here at the headquarters of the pan-Arab bloc.
The AL chief said he informed chief delegates to the AL of this matter during the AL council meeting earlier in the day.
Commenting on Israel’s recent order to expropriate the lands from four Arab villages near East Jerusalem, Moussa said the confiscation of Palestinian lands and Israel’s settlement policy is considered “a big challenge to the Arab world, rights of the Palestinians and law”.
The practices of the Jewish state were unacceptable, especially ahead of the international peace conference that was scheduled this autumn in the US, said Moussa.
Intense efforts are being made for the preparation of the Mideast peace conference initiated by US President George W. Bush in July.
