Mumbai: On the request of the members of the Dawoodi Bohra community residing in Mumbai, Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, the spiritual leader of the community, is conducting the annual Muharram discourses in the Maharashtra capital Mumbai this year. The discourses began on first Muharram at Saifee Masjid at local Bhendi Bazaar area.
In his speeches, Syedna narrated the tragic martyrdom of Imam Husain (rz), the grandson of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), at Karbala in Iraq and recounted Imam Husain’s sacrifice for the cause of Islam and humanity.
He also stressed on the universal message of social justice, peace and international harmony and specifically prayed for the wellbeing and prosperity of humanity atlarge.
Lakhs of community members from all parts of India and as well as abroad gathered here to attend Syedna’s discourses during the ashara mubaraka (the first 10 days of Muharram). The community’s International Ashara Mubaraka Committee has arranged all the necessary facilities including transport, boarding and lodging for the community members reaching here.
The community-run Saifee Hospital, Saifee Ambulance Society and Burhani Medical Idarah are co-coordinating to provide the best of medical facilities to the attendees. Over 520 TV sets and over 100 large projector screens have been placed at 48 relay centers across
the city.
