Pathanamthitta: Fed up of experimenting with the two fronts, the people of Kerala are longing for a third alternative, said Muvattupuzha Ashraf Moulvi, SDPI state vice-president. He was inaugurating the two-day leadership camp of SDPI south zone at Charalkunnu in Pathanamthitta.
The reception that the SDPI got in the state and the country within one and half years shows the increasing relevance of the neo-revolutionary political movement. The decisions taken by the SDPI will be people-friendly, he said.
Dalit-backwards sections are looking at the party with great hopes, said Laha Gopalan, state president of the Sadhujana Vimochana Samyuktha Vedi, who delivered the key-note address. The intervention of the SDPI in the problems of the lower sections in the society is hopeful. Dalit organizations should take initiative to line up the Dalit sections in Kerala behind the party. He added that he would support the SDPI in the coming Assembly elections.
SDPI state general secretary MK Manoj Kumar hoisted the flag. State treasurer AA Shafi presided over the function in which PK Gopinathan (vice-president), P Abdul Majeed Faidy (general secretary), secretaries PK Radha, Thulaseedharan Pallikkal, O Aliyar, CPA Latheef, VT Ikramul Haq, Dr CH Ashraf, Sam Kutty Jacob (camp director) and CG Unni (media co-ordinator) spoke. Around 250 representatives from seven districts attended the two-day camp which ends today.
