Mumbai : Anil Ambani’s telecom firm Reliance Communications (RCOM) received formal approval to launch GSM technology of mobile phone services across the country Friday.
“Reliance Communications Limited has received requisite approvals from the Department of Telecommunications to offer GSM services on a nation wide basis under its existing Unified Access Services Licences,” the company said in a statement to the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The company, however, has been operating GSM services in some parts of Northern and North-Eastern India since its inception.
