Yechury, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader, told the media here that the Left parties were “expecting” the government to give the final word on the deal on Oct 22, when the ruling United Progressive Alliance(UPA)-Left panel meets again for talks.

Four rounds of the meeting between the Left and the ruling UPA have taken place so far, Yechury said, adding that the Left was “going by the written word” rather than by what various politicians said.

The Left parties have been promised that the findings of the UPA-Left committee on the deal will be considered before the central government proceeds to make the deal active, Yechury said, reiterating, “our objections are over the harmful implications of such a deal”.
