Modi seeks sops for Gujaratis to buy diamond mines globally

Surat (Gujarat) : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Thursday urged the central government to announce a proactive policy to encourage Gujaratis buy diamond mines across the globe.

Inaugurating an international seminar and exhibition on gems and jewellery “Sparkle-2011” at Surat, he urged Gujarati entrepreneurs to think global in acquiring diamond mines.

Modi said that the Gujarat government was committed to the promotion and progress of the diamond industry.

The four-day event is a part of the run-up to the Vibrant Gujarat 2011 Summit to be held next week.

The event saw the participation of over 1,200 industry players from across the country and international delegations from Britain, Dubai, China, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

The event will see a host of events ranging from fashion shows and expositions to non-resident Indians’ meets and cultural extravaganza.
