The general officer commanding of the 9 Corps, Lt. Gen. A.K. Choudhary, called on Vohra and “briefed him about the security situation in his command’s area of responsibility,” a Raj Bhavan spokesman said.

The troops of 9 Corps, carved out of the Northern Command and now part of the Western Command, are responsible for guarding the international border with Pakistan in the Jammu region’s plains.
These troops also are responsible for anti-militancy operations in this area.

The International Border, like the Line of Control, is also used as an infiltration route by terrorists from Pakistan.

“The governor discussed with Lt. Gen. Choudhary various issues relating to the continuing attempts of infiltration from across the International Border and LoC,” the spokesman said.
