The complaint was filed following Mehta’s recent statements in Ahmedabad supporting lawyers who have been fighting cases of the 2002 riot victims.

Mehta reportedly threatened that they would protest if the BCG issued notice to these lawyers.

BCG chairman J.J. Patel said Tuesday that a complaint against Mehta had been received and the council had called a meeting on the issue Jan 23.

Five advocates, Niranjan Daftari, Manaji Thakor, Bahadursinh Jadeja, Hirabhai Patel and Virendrasinh Chauhan, have filed the complaint against Mehta.

Earlier, lawyers Mukul Sinha, Amrish Patel, S.H. Iyer, Samshad Pathan and M.M. Tirmizi were accused of professional misconduct by an accused in Naroda Patiya massacre case of the 2002 riots.
