New Delhi : Prices of edible oil increased and those of essential food commodities remained high in the national capital despite a slew of anti-inflationary measures undertaken by the government, according to official data released Friday.
Groundnut oil price increased from Rs.134 to Rs.135 per kilogram in Delhi during the week ended Jan 20, according to data compiled by Price Monitoring Cell of the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Prices of rice, wheat, atta (wheat flour), gram dal, masoor dal, milk, mustard oil, vanaspati, soya oil, sunflower oil, salt and tea remained steady over the week.
However, prices of some commodities have moderated though these yet remained high.
The price of tur (arhar) dal came down from Rs.69 per kg to Rs.68 per kg, moong dal from Rs.68 to Rs.67.50, urad dal from Rs.68 to Rs.67, sugar from Rs.34 to Rs.33.50 and potato from Rs.9 a kg to Rs.8 per kg.
Onion price declined from Rs.58.50 per kg to Rs.43.50 per kg in the national capital, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said in a statement.
Last week the Prime Minister’s Office unveiled a slew of anti-inflation steps, including regulating exports and imports and sale of onions at Rs.35 per kg by state-run National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) and the apex federation of consumer cooperatives, NCCF, through their retail outlets.
