“For the first time, the central government has decided to hire constables in the para-military forces through common recruitment exam that would be conducted by SSC. SSC will bring out an advertisement for this Feb 5,” SSC chairman N.K. Raghupathy told reporters here.

“We will recruit 53,200 constables, out of which 10,257 would be women. This number would be increased to nearly 80,000, depending up on the need, in the coming months. These posts have been divided among the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles and the Border Security Force (BSF),” he added.

Raghupathy said the number of central government departments showing trust in SSC’s recruitment process has increased during the past few years. He said that SSC will also open a regional office in Jammu and Kashmir.

“So far Jammu and Kashmir comes under Chandigarh region. We have decided to open a separate regional office of SSC at Srinagar to cater the requirements of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
