New Delhi : The Delhi government Monday decided to rope in private power distribution companies for maintaining the city’s street lights.
“It is also necessary in view of the safety of the common man. The private companies will take over this work as they have ample workforce and technical infrastructure to provide a better and well-managed service,” Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit told reporters here.
In addition, the Delhi government Monday revised the budget allocated for an automated six-level car parking system which is under construction at the Delhi High Court complex, an official said.
“The figure has been revised to Rs.182.71 crore against an earlier estimate of Rs.125 crore. The revision is due to the cost escalation of raw materials and inclusion of a five-year maintenance pact,” an official said.
When completed, it will be able to house 1,550 cars and is being constructed by the Delhi Metro.
