Patna: The Qatar based Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand (IABJ) and Bihar Foundation will honor Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and renowned philanthropist and surgeon Dr Ahmed Abdul Hai with Maulana Mazharul Haque Award and Veer Kunwar Singh Award respectively.
“Maulana Mazharul Haque award will be conferred on Nitish Kumar in recognition for his efforts to spread the basic education among the masses especially rural girls, “said president of IABJ Shakil Ahmed Kakvi while announcing the name of winners at a press conference yesterday at Kalakatta Hall of Indian Cultural Centre in Doha, Qatar.

“Dr Ahmed Abdul Hai has been named for Veer Kunwar Singh award for his outstanding contribution in health and social sectors,” Mr. Kakvi added.
The awards will be given to them at a ‘Bihar Divas’ program which will be held on March 22 in Qatar. “The IABJ and Bihar Foundation, Doha, Qatar have decided to celebrate Bihar Divas on March 22 to acquaint the non-resident Biharis about the state culture, heritage and branding,” he further said.
According to Kakvi, they have sent the invitation to Nitish Kumar to attend the Bihar Divas celebration in Qatar. Besides winners, some well-known cultural groups from India will also participate.
A jury of 13 members chaired by Nilaghsu Dey unanimously nominated Kumar and Hai for the awards. This is the first time IABJ has nominated non-expatriate Indians for the awards.
