Patna : Hundreds of lawyers blocked a national highway in Bihar’s Begusarai district Wednesday to enforce a day-long strike to protest the killing of Additional Public Prosecutor Shyam Narayan Yadav.
Lawyers in Begusarai, about 125 km from here, are demanding for the last few days the arrest of the criminals involved in Yadav’s killing.
Police officials said lawyers blocked National Highway-31, disrupting road traffic and took out a march in the town.
Police officials said the strike evoked a mixed response as business establishments and educational institutions remained closed.
The district bar association has given a call for shutdown in Begusarai Wednesday and also sought compensation of Rs.20 lakh for Yadav’s family.
He was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals Feb 11 when he was going to his native village after attending court.
