New Delhi : It was too premature to speculate on who would be the next prime ministerial candidate, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Wednesday, stressing that he would be completing his term in office.
“As far as the next term is concerned, it is too premature to speculate who will be the next candidate,” he told a group of television editors.
He would, of course, like “a cohesive party to back the government”, the prime minister told a gathering.
“We are a democratic party,” he said, adding that there were lots of internal discussions but once a decision is taken the party is behind it.
The prime minister reiterated that there would be a cabinet reshuffle and restructuring after the budget session of parliament.
