Probe black money of CPI-M leaders: Mamata

By IANS,

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Sunday demanded an enquiry into the “black money stashed by the politicians of (West) Bengal, especially the (ruling) Marxist leaders, in foreign banks”.

“As a demand is on across the country regarding the list of names of those who have money in foreign banks, we want that an enquiry should also be held to find the names of those from Bengal who have black money stashed in foreign banks,” said Banerjee at a Trinamool Congress rally.

Earlier this month, union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had said $462 billion to $1.4 trillion of money was estimated to have been stashed abroad by Indians and all steps were being taken to bring it back.

But the names of the perpetrators could not be revealed yet, he said.

“This enquiry will bring out how much black money of CPI-M (leaders) and other people from Bengal is stashed in foreign banks. We want that this black money of the people of Bengal should be brought to Bengal and used for the purpose of development,” said Banerjee.

“The CPI-M has siphoned off a lot of money of common people of Bengal. The state government is having a loan of more than Rs.2 lakh crore,” she said.
