New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Wednesday rapped the Delhi government over non-registration of labourers in Delhi and told the central government’s directorate general of labour welfare to look into issues related to workers.

A division bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the directorate should ensure that schemes meant for workers’ welfare were implemented.

“The matter is listed for further hearing on April 20,” said the court.

Pulling up the Delhi government on the issue of not registering labourers, court questioned if the 13 schemes announced by it had been implemented.

“Give us the details as to how many workers have benefited under your schemes,” said the court.

All principal employers must issue notice to contractor who provide details of the labourers, the court said, adding that civic agencies should provide details to the authorities within four weeks.
