Islamabad : At least four people were killed as militants in Pakistan’s restive tribal region torched 10 NATO tankers meant for fuel supply to troops in neighbouring Afghanistan, a media report said Friday.
The tankers parked on the roadside in Peshawar, the capital of northern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, was attacked by a group of militants late Thursday, Geo TV reported.
The militants opened fire at the vehicles, leading to eruption of fire which engulfed many tankers in no time, witnesses told police officials.
A total of four people, believed to be the drivers and cleaners of the tankers, were killed in the attack, they said.
Police said some fuel containers were still on fire. Firetenders have been sent to the scene.
