New Delhi: Amidst mass protests in several countries in the Arab world, India’s National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon will travel to Iran in March to make an assessment of Indian interests in the region.
Menon is likely to travel to some other countries in the Middle East and Persian Gulf as well, the arrangements for which are still being made, but will keep away from the real hot-spots like Libya which is currently under turmoil, Express News Serice (ENS) reported quoting sources .
There is a large presence of Indians in these countries and ensuring their safety would be topmost on the agenda of Menon’s visit.
Thousands of Indians were brought back from Egypt where a three-week public protest had resulted in a regime change earlier this month.
