New Delhi : The ruling Congress party will hold its party session on Nov 17, a move that is seen as an attempt to gear up the organisation in the wake of the possibility of an early general election.

In the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session, which will be held at the Talkatora Stadium in the capital, the party is expected to pass resolutions on political, economical and foreign polices.

The AICC session, being convened after the 2006 Congress plenary session in Hyderabad, assumes significance in the wake of the ongoing row over the India-US civil nuclear deal, which is opposed by its Left allies and other parties.

At the session, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also expected to introduce her MP son Rahul Gandhi, who was recently appointed as the party’s general secretary in charge of the Youth Congress.

The session, to be attended by AICC members from across the country, is also expected to chalk out strategies for the party in the next Lok Sabha elections.
