Maoists blow up mobile tower in Bihar

By IANS,

Patna : Maoists blew up a mobile tower of a private telecom operator in Bihar’s Jamui district early Tuesday as they enforced a two-day strike in the eastern part of the state to protest the killing of six guerrillas in a gunfight, police said.

Police officials said a dozen armed guerrillas blew up a mobile tower in Mahgaon village in Jamui, about 200 km from here.

“Maoists targeted a mobile tower during a two-day strike,” police said.

The six Maoists were killed Saturday in a gunfight with police in Majhadih, a forested area in Banka district, about 150 km from here.

A guerrilla was arrested and 200 live cartridges, one AK-47 and two SLRs were also recovered from the site.

The two-day strike has been called by the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist, a police officer said.
