New Delhi : Ten Cheetah helicopters of the Indian armed forces have crashed since 2006-07, Defence Minister A.K. Antony informed the Rajya Sabha Wednesday.
In a written reply, Antony said the crashes took place due to various reasons, including human error, technical defects and weather.
The minister denied that the defence services were operating the Cheetahs beyond their allotted flying hours or altitude ceiling.
“Replacement of aircraft fleet of the defence forces, including Cheetah helicopters, is reviewed from time to time keeping in view the operational requirements. This is a continuous process,” he added.
