Kabul : A suicide bomber, who had strapped explosives around his body, detonated himself near a military base in the south-eastern Afghan province of Paktika, killing four Afghan soldiers and a civilian, the provincial governor said Saturday.
“Today a suicide bomber, who was wearing Afghan national army uniform, detonated himself near a military base, killing himself, four Afghan army soldiers and a civilian,” Akram Khepilwak told DPA.
Five other civilians, who worked in the military base, were wounded in the attack that took place in Bermal district of the province, which borders neighbouring Pakistan, he said.
Khepilwak did not blame any group for the attack, but Taliban in the past have always taken responsibility for suicide bombings in the country.
Over 100 suicide attacks have been carried out in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year, making it the most violent since the ouster of the Taliban in late 2001.
