Mubarak gets $339 as monthly allowance

By IANS/RIA Novosti,

Cairo : Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is getting a monthly allowance of $339 from the state, an Egyptian daily reported Tuesday.

However, Mubarak’s pension as the former commander of the armed forces could not be disclosed, the Al-Masry Al-Youm daily said, citing an unnamed state official.

Mubarak has kept out of the public eye since the uprisings forced him to step down in February and hand power over to a military council.

Military authorities have forbidden Mubarak and his family to leave the country. The former president is living in a villa in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
