Digvijay Singh got figures wrong: Kejriwal

By IANS,

New Delhi : A day after Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh targeted civil rights activists saying they spent Rs. 50 lakh on their campaign for a tough anti-graft law, activist Arvind Kejriwal Sunday said Singh had got the figures wrong.

“He (Singh) is wrong to say that Rs.50 lakh were spent on four day agitation. I think he did not see the figures released by us. We received Rs.82 lakh and Rs.32 lakh were spent in last four months which includes money spent in couple of places, including Rs.6-7 lakh spent in Mumbai,” Kejriwal told reporters here.

Singh Saturday said that if people representing the civil society can spend Rs.50 lakh, then why are they targeting politicians?

Singh had earlier questioned the inclusion of senior advocate and Lokpal Bill drafting committee co-chair Shanti Bhushan and his son and committee member Prashant Bhushan, alleging they had evaded stamp duty to the tune of Rs.1.33 crore payable on a property in Allahabad.

Prashant Bhushan has denied the allegation. He has also said that a “smear campaign” has been launched against the activists and he was planning to sue the Congress leader over the allegation.
