Lucknow : The Allahabad High Court Wednesday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to submit by May 9 a report on police investigation into the murder of two chief medical officers here.
The Lucknow bench of the court was hearing a petition filed by city-based lawyer Prince Lenin.
In his petition moved Monday, Lenin demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of B.P. Singh and Vinod Kumar Arya.
Both Singh and Arya held the posts of chief medical officer (family welfare) and were shot dead by unidentified assailants.
While Singh was shot dead April 2, 2011, in Gomti Nagar, Arya was killed October 27, 2010, in Vikas Nagar.
“The court has sought the status report on the police investigations being carried out in both the cases in order to decide whether there is a need for a CBI enquiry,” Lenin told reporters here.
“The court has fixed May 9 as the next date of hearing,” he added.
