New Delhi: Starting with Manipur in March this year, the membership drive of Khudai Khidmatgar has so far been conducted in three states. They have got encouraging response in each state. Apart from Manipur, they have touched Assam and West Bengal and a couple of hundred youths have joined Khudai Khidmatgar.
Starting the state-wise membership drive from Manipur on 23rd March, they went on to touch states like Assam and West Bengal. In Manipur the membership was handed over by noted social activist and brother of Irom Sharmila, Singh Jeet Singh. Sharmila has been on fast against the draconian AFSPA for last 10 years. On this occasion on behalf of the National Revival Committee, Faisal Khan and Suresh Bhai were present. Daiyan Hussain in charge of North East Khudai Khidmatgar was also present there. The first one to take membership was a renowned social activist of Manipur Sitara Begum.

Speaking on this occasion Daiyan Hussain informed the gathering about the reason why Manipur was chosen as the first state for this drive. According to him, Irom Sharmila has become a symbol of struggle worldwide. More than 25 people were given membership of Khudai Khidmatgar.
In Assam, membership drive was started on 24th March in the conference room of Assam Tourist Lodge in Guwahati. Famous social activist Dr. Mani Mala and a Gandhian worker of Assam, Biju behen were present there and handed over the membership to 75 people. Other social activists and Gandhians from various districts of Assam were also present. Faisal Khan explained in his introductory speech what Khudai Khidmatgar was trying do. “We want to bring such people on a platform who are working for human cause without any expectations for personal gains.”

Dr. Mani Mala in her speech praised the organizer and the people present there saying that the number of people present in the membership drive shows that this will become a people’s movement for the people of Assam and the nation.
On 26th March membership drive was started in Kolkata in Dilkusha Street. More than 25 people were given membership in West Bengal.
