Chittagong : Unplayable ground conditions due to overnight rain delayed the start of the fifth and final day's play Tuesday as the first weather-marred India-Bangladesh cricket Test headed for a tame draw.
Umpires Daryl Harper of Australia and Billy Doctrove of the West Indies were scheduled to inspect the pitch, which was well covered, and the ground at 11 a.m. local time (10.30 a.m. IST) and take a decision whether play was possible at all.
India in their second innings had scored 44 for two wickets to take their overall lead to 193 at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium here.
Just a few hours after play ended Monday, the entire ground was washed by rains, though the pitch and its adjoining areas were covered.
Heavy showers are forecast for Tuesday too.
The second and final Test will begin Friday in Dhaka. India had won the rain-affected One-day International series 2-0 earlier.
