New Delhi : The Delhi Police Thursday said it had seized three satellite phones from a news channel.
“We seized the gadgets on Wednesday after we found that a satellite phone was used to contact Delhi mobile numbers,” said a senior police officer.
The use of satellite phones in India is illegal without the prior permission of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
“The channel told us that they are engaged in business of news coverage in south Asia and in emergency cases, their Delhi office used the satellite phones,” the officer added.
