PM back after Kabul visit

By IANS,

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday returned home after a two-day visit to Kabul where he pledged New Delhi’s continued support to Afghanistan’s development.

The prime minister met Afghan President Hamid Karzai and discussed the security situation arising out of the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and the threat of terrorism looming over the South Asian region.

Manmohan Singh, who addressed the joint session of Afghanistan parliament, committed another $500 million over the $1.5-billion already pledged by India to assist Afghanistan in its development post the ouster of Taliban in 2001.
