Mubarak’s wife in ICU after heart attack

By IANS,

Cairo: Egyptian former president Hosni Mubarak’s wife, Suzanne Thabet, was moved to an intensive care unit after suffering a heart attack Friday, Xinhua quoted the Egyptian state TV as stating.

“Suzanne Thabet has been moved to the intensive care unit at Sharm el-Sheikh hospital after suffering a heart attack,” state TV said.

The news came hours after Egypt’s illicit gains authority ordered to detain Suzanne Mubarak for 15 days pending investigation over illegal acquisition of wealth.

Assem al-Gohari, head of the Illicit Gains Authority under the Justice Ministry, ordered earlier Friday her detention over charges that she abused her position to gain wealth illegally, state media said.

Mubarak and his two sons were ordered to be detained for 15 days April 13. Their detention have been renewed for twice. They faced accusations of killing protesters and corruption.

Mubarak was forced to resign Feb. 11 and handed over his power to the armed forces after 18 days of mass protests against his 30-year-long rule.

He was taken to the same hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh April 12 after he suffered a heart attack when he was first questioned by prosecutors for investigation.
