New Delhi : A day after parading 114 legislators before President Pratibha Patil here, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Wednesday left for Bangalore with them and said he would meet Governor H.R. Bhardwaj later in the day.
“Rajyapaal mahoday (honourable governor) has given permission to meet us. I, along with three-four ministers, will go and meet him. I also want to request him to allow us to work according to the democratic way,” Yeddyurappa told reporters before catching a flight to Bangalore.
The chief minister said the assembly session would start from June 2 and they would ask the governor to give permission so that other things can run smoothly.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday paraded its Karanataka legislators before Patil in a bid to prove its majority in the state assembly, even as Governor H.R. Bhardwaj came out publicly with the reasons for his report to the central government, reportedly recommending president’s rule.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari said the party urged the president not to accept Bhardwaj’s report on imposing president’s rule and urged her to recall the governor.
In Bangalore, Bhardwaj clarified in a communique that he recommended president’s rule following the Supreme Court judgment as there was a breakdown of the constitutional mechanism on the day the confidence motion was taken up in October last year.
