Kolkata : Italy will promote its food and literature in West Bengal by opening a new restaurant in the city and becoming the theme country in next year’s Kolkata Book Fair, an Italian envoy said Wednesday.
”Italy will promote its food in West Bengal by opening of a new restaurant in Kolkata. The restaurant, Casa Toscana, will open in July this year. It will be run by Italian chefs,” Italian Consul General in Kolkata Joel Melchiori said in a programme, organised by Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI).
”The country will participate as the ‘Theme Country’ in Kolkata Book Fair next year to promote its literature in the state,” he said.
On bilateral trade between the two countries, Melchiori said, ”Bilateral trade between India and Italy will increase.”
According to a FICCI report, bilateral trade between the two countries will reach 17.5 billion USD by 2014.
