Court judgment was expected in Kanimozhi’s case: Cho Ramaswamy

By IANS,

Chennai: Stating that the court ruling to deny bail to DMK MP Kanimozhi was “not unexpected”, political commentator Cho Ramaswamy said Friday that the development had taken place because the case was being monitored by the Supreme Court.

“The case is under Supreme Court monitoring and had it not been in court jurisdiction these things wouldn’t be happening,” Ramaswamy told a TV channel.

Talking about the verdict, he said: “This is something which was not unexpected as it has been in the court for quite some time because of adjournment and including Kanimozhi everybody would be expecting it.”

Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar, named as co-conspirators in the 2G spectrum scam, were Friday taken into custody after a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court rejected their bail pleas.

“There is evidence against her … Kalaignar TV had a lot of trouble in answering about money transferred to them. Socio-cultural organisation Tamizh Maiyam is now revealing donation from telecom companies.”

“But this also shows that wherever Kanimozhi goes, telecom money goes. She was in Tamizh Maiyam then telecom companies contributed, when she was in Kalaignar TV so they contributed,” he added.
