Inaugurating the BSF ‘kala mela’, a five-day exhibit at Lalit Kala Akademi, the minister said: “We owe a duty to stand by them and to give them best training, equipment as they operate in very hostile conditions. But not many appreciate the efforts put by BSF men.”

Appreciating the troopers for their dedication towards work, Chidambaram said: “A total of 1,678 BSF officers have made the supreme sacrifice by giving their life in the defence of the country.”

Chidambaram also asked Delhiites to visit the exhibition and buy the products available on sale.

“I hope that thousands of Delhiites will visit the exhibition. Delhi is a wealthy place and I am confident that they will come here and buy the products,” he added.

The exhibition displays 112 paintings and over 200 sculptures made by 58 central paramilitary force men, women, family members and school teachers.
